Location and Date: Blandy Farm / The Virginia Arboretum | May 2013
The Details: Every time I do a photo session for a repeat client of mine, I am reminded of how fast time goes by. Ben and Lauren are expecting their first child to be born any day now, and it seems like only yesterday I was doing a portrait session for them as a couple. We had blue skies and warm weather for this photo session at Blandy, a location I always seem to find something new at each time I visit.

I was heading out for an early morning beach run when I saw this scene from the walkway down to the beach. I only had my iPhone with me, but I think it did a pretty good job of capturing the scene.
I’m offering a higher resolution version as a free download for large computer screen wallpapers:

Location and Date: Federal Hill and The Inner Harbor, Baltimore, MD | April 2013
The Details: This was my second engagement session in my hometown of Baltimore, MD this year (after never having an opportunity to do a session there). Jared and Alison are big fans of the Federal Hill area, so we spent some time at the Federal Hill park taking in the views before traveling down to the waterfront by the Inner Harbor. I was even able to snag a nice panorama of Baltimore City too!

Location and Date: Holiday Inn at Carradoc Hall, Leesburg, VA – April 2013
The Details: Carradoc Hall is located right off Route 7 in Leesburg. You would not think it would have an old barn house and some woods nearby if you know the area well…but surprise, it does! Brian and Kandi had a perfect weather wedding, so we were sure to take advantage of this unique setting right next to the venue. Happy children and fun on the dance floor always make photographing weddings fun, and Brian and Kandi’s definitely fell into that category!

Location and Date: Winchester, VA | May 2013
The Details: The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival is the biggest event of the year in the area to the residents of Winchester, VA. The Apple Blossom’s official website states, “Each spring the citizens of Winchester unite in preparing for the yearly Festival with an annual clean-up and beautification project followed by draping the city in pink, white and green bunting making the city more presentable to guests and spectators. The citizens of Winchester delight in welcoming everyone to their beautiful historical city and the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®”. A quarter of a million people attend the festival, and the most popular event is the grand feature parade through downtown Winchester, Virginia.
I was able to attend the parade with my family this year, and here are some of the cheery (and creepy) photos of the parade.

Location and Date: Ceremony: Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel, Quantico, VA | Reception: Rockledge Mansion, Occoquan, VA | March 2013
The Details: To me, this was one of the most perfect weddings I have ever been a part of. When Corey and Randi first contacted me and told me the wedding would be at the chapel used by the United States Marine Corps, I was thrilled to tell them I would be available to photograph their wedding. After doing their engagement session in Washington, D.C. this past fall I was even more excited! I have the utmost respect and reverence for all members of the United States Military, so being able to be a part of a wedding involving a Marine makes it that much more special. To top it off, aside from an early light rain shower, the weather was ideal for mid-March. Congrats to the lovely couple!
“Aaron Riddle is a true professional. He was by far the best vendor we used for our wedding. We used him from both our engagement photos and wedding photos and continue to get overwhelming compliments from people who have viewed his work. He is very organized and communicates clearly every step of the process leading up to the big day, as well as, executes seamlessly the day of. We get to re-live our big day every time we look through the photos and are SO thankful for everything that he caught on film! He is a great guy and an extremely talented photographer and we would recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer for their big day!” – Corey and Randi

Location and Date: Chantilly National Country Club, Centreville, VA | March 2013
The Details: Weddings in March are a roll of the dice. You can wind up with cold, windy, snowy days or have a day like the one Jeremy and Kristen had. There was literally not a cloud in the sky (as evident in the above bridal photo of Kristen). It was such a special day for a special couple. In fact I am beginning to wonder if Chantilly National Country Club is good luck. Every time I have photographed a wedding there, it has been perfect weather with a glorious sunset!
“I loved how Aaron blended in with everyone. I especially liked how he was patient with the children. I’m very appreciative of his turnaround time and the quality of the finished products. He is an amazing photographer at a reasonable price. The quality of his work is superb. He is friendly and caring and really is nice to have as part of your special day!” – Kristen L.

Location and Date: February 2013 | Third Winchester Battlefield in Winchester, VA
The Details: I have photographed couples in plenty of less-than-ideal conditions. Rain, snow, 100º temperatures, you name it. Yet one of the most challenging conditions to take photographs in is wind…and boy was it windy on this day. However, we managed to navigate to a few areas on the battlefield that were sheltered from the wind and wound up making the engagement session work out perfectly. I also really enjoyed using the Third Battlefield for an engagement session location (as suggested by Joe and Beth) and will recommend it to future couples in the area!
