Wedding Photography – Jay and Emily’s Celebration at Rappahannock Cellars

Location and Date: Ceremony – Strasburg Presbyterian Church | Reception – Rappahannock Cellars

The Details: Jay and Emily (view their engagement session) were married on a hot day this past June. I don’t really recall it being hot though, since everyone was too busy having a great time to even notice. Married at the church in Strasburg, VA, their reception was held in the barn at Rappahannock Cellars. The owners let us explore the vineyard for some wedding portraits and I once again climbed atop my tall ladder to get a group shot of everyone at the wedding (they are always a lot of fun). I did learn a few weeks later, that the church Jay and Emily were married in caught fire and was badly damaged. I received this e-mail from Emily’s mother shortly after:

“I’m not sure if you heard that our church caught fire July 2, and suffered extensive damage. Structurally it is sound and it can be restored. This has been rather heartbreaking for our church family. We thought the sanctuary had been spared, but it also suffered extensive smoke damage. When reviewing Jay and Emily’s complete set of pictures it warmed my heart to see that you had taken a picture of the sanctuary prior to the ceremony. Our church family has been overwhelmed with the outpouring of support, gifts and kindness from people near and far, and your gift is especially meaningful to the entire congregation.” – Barbie Kibler

Testimonial: “Aaron, thank you so much providing such wonderful services and such memorable photos to last for years to come. I tell everyone that asks about our photos, how wonderful you are and how pleased we were. I will also add how no other photographer that we consulted could beat your price and services! Let us know if there is ever anything we can do in return for you.” – Jay and Emily Barnes
